North East USP-SDP Annual Summer Picnic

What a better way to toast the summer with the brods and sisters in our annual picnic in Langhorne, PA on August 8, 2009.   Langhorne is a suburb of Philadelphia.  It is hard to believe that our awesome hosts, Vic ‘59 and Mila ‘63 Rivera have been hosting our summer picnic for 33 years.  Since 1976, the year our beloved brod Henry Lua joined the Upsilon.  They made sure that the event is always fun filled and interesting.  It has been a great East Coast tradition.   We laugh, eat and drink together, we have a lot of great moments, but none more exciting than the presence of our guest of honor, Mart Martell ’47 telling us how our song “When You’re Away” came about……  Inspired by the love songs from Broadway.

Here’s something we bet you didn’t know:  After 33 years, it is the first time that brod Mart attended the NE picnic.  We thought then we might never have the opportunity to bring NE most senior fellow, but thanks to brod Andrew 85 who picked him up to surprise and delight the brods.

Thanks everyone for attending as we look forward to your return next year.

Fraternally,
Abet Villanueva ‘84
